What I love about the Iona outfit is that it is fully traditional and authentic. In medieval days, women would shield their bodies from view, saving themselves for the one man they truly loved. They would wear a veil over their head for modesty and to keep their hair clean and fresh. The long sleeves were a sign of luxury, that while wearing this special dress they were outfitted for a formal occasion, not for manual labor. The embroidery is just gorgeous here as well!
